Stream This | Radiohead Shares Unused Bond Theme
Apparently Radiohead was asked to record a theme song for the movie, but it didn’t work out.
Listen to Radiohead’s “Spectre” here.
In typical Thom Yorke fashion, combining elements of eerie strings, hollow vocals and cinematic flairs, the track is a rather haunting (yet beautiful) rendition. While Radiohead was among those heavily rumored to be in the runnings, no trace of the alleged song had surfaced – until now. But things somehow fell through to Sam Smith.
“Posting to his Twitter, frontman Thom Yorke unveiled the song this morning, stating “.As the year closes we thought you might like to hear it. Merry Christmas.
Smith’s track, “Writing’s On the Wall“, is also in a minor key. I’m sure there’s more to the story here, but this would instantly be the best Bond theme song ever recorded. It became the first Bond theme song to reach number one on the British singles charts.
