Modi to make first visit to Pakistan in over 10 years
Modi, who inaugurated a new parliament complex built with Indian help in Kabul, spoke to Sharif earlier on Friday to wish him on his 66th birthday.
LAHORE initial Narendra Modi arrived on the surprise visit nowadays at Lahoreis Allama Iqbal Airport Terminal.
It was a telephone call from Modi from Kabul greeting Sharif on his birthday which triggered the dramatic journey – his first to Pakistan and the first by any Indian prime minister in 11 years.
Earlier, Modi had wished Nawaz Sharif on his birthday today.
The two leaders then flew in an Pakistan Air Force helicopter o Sharif’s Raiwind home, where the wedding of Sharif’s granddaughter was being held.

The PTI Chief said that the global community also viewed the meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart as a positive development.
Relations between India and Pakistan have been strained over a series of cross-border firing incidents that both countries blamed on each other.
Dismissing External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s claim that Modi’s move was statesman like, Sharma said, “This unannounced visit can not be termed statesman like, Modi’s diplomacy lacks seriousness and gravitas”.
“It was agreed to continue and enhance bilateral contacts and work together to establish good neighborly relations”.
In August, talks were canceled over an agenda conflict, only to have the national security advisers of both countries meet recently for surprise dialogue in Bangkok, Thailand.
