Twitter rolls out Safety Center to handle harassment & abuse
The new section offers tips on dealing with online abuse, a part of Twitter‘s ongoing efforts to double down on trolls, stalkers, and other forms of online harassment.
The latest move has been revealed today, with the launch of Safety Centre, a new area of Twitter that the micro-blogging site says is a resource for anyone to use to learn about online safety on Twitter and the web in general.
Dubbed the Safety Center, Twitter’s new tool provides guides on various courses of action, including filing police reports against harassers.
Twitter has created a “Safety Centre” which will help users to understand and utilise the site’s tools against abuse.
Twitter’s Head of Safety, Patricia Cartes, said: “What is really important for us is to continue to engage with CST to really understand what is happening in the offline world and make sure that our mechanisms are prepared to cope with the increase of reports”.
“And since we are a global community, in the coming weeks the Safety Centre will be translated into some of the most-used languages on Twitter and even more languages over time”.
“Your online safety is a shared responsibility, and digital citizenship is essential to fostering a safe environment for all”.
The Safety Center has dedicated sections for teens, families and educators, with guidelines for safe tweeting and explains Twitter’s built-in features to to deal with with online bullies, such as muting, blocking.
“This resource is a result of our work with online safety experts who continuously help us to promote good digital citizenship”.
