UK Astronaut Dials Wrong Number From Space
Ever got a phone call and someone says, ‘Hello, Is This Planet Earth?’.
He called from the International Space Station about 400 kilometers from the surface of earth and said, ‘Hello, Is This Planet Earth?’.
Given his huge fan following, the post has gone viral on social media with thousands of people wishing he dials their number by mistake.
Astronauts on the Space Station are able to call their families on Earth through video and voice calls when they have free time.
Peake is the first British citizen to go to space since Helen Sharman, who became the country’s first astronaut when she visited the Soviet space station Mir in 1991, according to the BBC.
The 43-year-old blasted off from Kazakhstan on December 15 with fellow astronauts Tim Kopra from the United States and Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko on a six-month mission. Nigel and Angela Peake arrived home to find a voicemail left by their son.
Earlier in the week, Peake helped two fellow crew members to conduct a space walk outside the ISS. Kelly is now nine months into his yearlong mission in space.
Other Britons who have flown into space have done so either as private individuals or by taking U.S. citizenship.
