The Roundup-Jazz 85, Warriors 103
The Jazz get their shot at ending the Golden State Warriors’ 30-game regular-season home winning streak when the teams square off Wednesday night.
NOTES: The Warriors announced Wednesday that Steve Kerr, still recovering from offseason back surgery, would make their next trip – a three-day, two-game trek to Dallas and Houston next week – but not return as the full-time coach.
Given his level of play, along with the current success of his team, does Curry feel he is the No. 1 player on the planet? You’re going to have letdowns every once in a while. “To not be coaching is probably the most frustrating thing I’ve ever gone through”. Chris Paul and the Clippers are still looking for that elusive first NBA Finals appearance, while the Lakers continue to struggle in the lower reaches of the West. Worth watching just to see Kobe Bryant one last time on 25 December, as he plays in a record 16th Christmas Day game.
They have already met once earlier in the season and are set to clash again three more times in the regular season and the Warriors know what the Jazz are capable of. Something you can tweet back and forth about for hours or sit in the gym after pickup games and discuss. But Klay Thompson is the best shooting guard in the league today. The result is a bundle of turnovers, and some messy play on the practice floor that doesn’t always mimic what happens in real games. Utah Jazz’s Gordon Hayward (20) goes up for a shot between Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green, left, and Andrew Bogut during the second half of an NBA basketball game Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, in Oakland, Calif. Golde…
Fresh off four days without a game – and two days before an NBA Finals rematch – the Warriors shook off some rust and beat Utah 103-85 to improve to 27-1. They spread the floor and shot over 40% from downtown, while shooting more than 20 threes. I don’t get into debates, arguing with people about why I am versus somebody else.
The Warriors controlled the game most of the night despite Walton mixing up his rotations.
It didn’t seem to matter much. He is shooting 53.3 percent from the field and 55.3 percent on 3-pointers. Nowitzki scored 22 points, giving him 28,609 in his career, and Wesley Matthews finished with 17.
The Knicks, who were missing Carmelo Anthony due to a sprained right ankle, went scoreless for almost 4 minutes after taking an 82-80 lead. Curry has been in blazing form through the first 27 games, averaging 31.8 points and comfortably on track to win back-to-back MVP awards. The Utah Jazz have lost seven of their last 10 road games.
Favors had nine rebounds to lead the Jazz. James had 44 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
Ultimately, this felt like one of those games where the Warriors’ coaching staff tinkers a bit.
Reggie Jackson led the Pistons with 18 points, and Stanley Johnson and Caldwell-Pope each added 14 for Detroit. The Golden State Warriors are shooting 42.4 percent from beyond the arc and 74.9 percent from the free throw line.
Wizards 100, Grizzlies 91: John Wall had 14 points and 14 assists in Washington’s victory over Memphis.
