Game Recap: Warriors best Cavilers in 2015 Finals rematch
That much was apparent as Golden State defeated Cleveland 89-83 on Friday at Oracle Arena in a Christmas Day matchup of last year’s National Basketball Association finalists and this season’s conference leaders. The defending champions maintained their edge on Cleveland by limiting the Cavs to 32-percent shooting.
Now, the Warriors have the marquee win they’ve been missing this season and are 28-1, which is still the best start of any team in National Basketball Association history. The Warriors power forward (and sometimes center) was the best player on the floor as evidenced by his final numbers: 22 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists.
Having those two starters did not make a difference on Friday, but the Cavs will get one more regular-season crack at the Warriors in Cleveland, and these two title contenders also could meet down the road in the 2016 NBA Finals in June.
Kevin Durant had 29 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for Oklahoma City, who went into the game with nine wins from ten games. However, we may see him more than we did on Christmas Day considering it will be the second of a back-to-back.
The game didn’t play out the way most expected it to. They were glued to their seats and it’s a good thing, because they came from far and wide to watch the NBA Finals rematch.
Davis had more points than his teammates combined in the first half, the reason why New Orleans still had a shot.
Houston’s lead was shaky in the final five minutes, but James Harden hit a 3-pointer to push the lead out to eight points.
“We want more”, Curry said.
A driving hoop by Green gave Golden State its largest lead of the game, 81-71, with 3:48 to play.
The Warriors proved they’re still the team to beat, and Irving is just pleased he’s playing against them opposed to watching this time around.
Heat 94, Pelicans 88: MIAMI – Chris Bosh had 30 points and 10 rebounds, Dwyane Wade added 19 points and Miami improved to an NBA-best 10-2 on Christmas Day. With the attitude that we appreciated because like a Michael Jordan or Shaquille O’Neal, or Kobe Bryant, you know, just a cutthroat nature.
Instead, in the unminced words of several Warriors players, we got “an ugly game”.
Cavs forward Kevin Love said, “They’re a very hungry team”. Luke Walton closed the game with a modified version of the death line-up – Curry, Thompson, a terrific Shaun Livingston, Iguodala and Green. With 8 seconds left in the game, the camera focused on Green standing at the foulline, getting ready for his second free throw.
