The comedian was responsible for a truly awkward television moment when he wrongly announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez-Arévalo as the victor during the pageant on Sunday.

“Everything happens for a reason, so I’m happy”, she said.

But as the crown first went to Miss Colombia, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos celebrated the win via Twitter, posting, “Colombian women are the most attractive in the world!”

While Pia was in pure bliss upon knowing that she is the next Miss Universe, the runner-up was obviously devastated.

Miss Philippines was crowned the 2015 victor a short time later while Gutierrez was then named first runner-up, followed by USA’s Olivia Jordan as second runner-up.

Southard said, “There’s so much build up, so much time and focus, these girls have worked for their lifetime – you go from the high of being Miss Universe, to being runner up”. That made it two straight Miss Universe winners for Colombia, where the pageants are taken seriously.

This is exactly how she thought both Miss Columbia and Miss Philippines handled themselves, with grace and dignity.

Harvey said it was his mistake for not reading out the name of the winners correctly.

The glittering crown was then promptly placed on Wurtzbach’s head. “We congratulate Miss Universe Philippines as Miss Universe 2015”.

“The entire country, and our family, was overcome with emotion”, Alvaro Arevalo, the Colombian runner-up’s cousin who admitted to be “a little shocked”, told Blu Radio in an interview Monday, according to Bogota’s AP.

While Trump no longer owns the Miss Universe pageant, some people are thoroughly convinced that he had something to do with the results mix up.

But we’re only human and everybody makes mistakes.

Harvey tweeted, “I don’t want to take away from this unbelievable night and pageant”.
