Foot soreness sidelines Peyton Manning
Despite the return to the practice field, the Denver Broncos stated that Brock Osweiler would start his fifth-consecutive game in Peyton Manning’s absence.
Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said quarterback Peyton Manning will return to practice on Wednesday.
As for Manning, Kubiak said he will likely add more and more to his workload each practice and see how Manning responds.
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning had a slight setback Friday because of soreness in his left foot after two straight days of practice.
Manning has not played since November 15 when he threw four interceptions in a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Rivera also said he’s uncertain whether Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen will play against the Giants, saying the team will take a “we’ll see” approach this week. “… We’re a football team and we go about our day that way all the time”. Initially thought to be a sure win game for the Tom Brady team, the match up proved to be the opening needed for backup quarterback Brock Osweiler.
“I know his foot has been sore since he left Indianapolis”.
But Osweiler, in a small sample size, has outperformed Manning, with a completion percentage of 63.5, 1,140 passing yards and five touchdowns to three interceptions, though he has been sacked 17 times. Osweiler will remain the starter when Denver visits Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Manning resumed throwing last week but did his limited on-field work away from practice time.
Two weeks ago Manning said Anderson had no answers for him when he asked how long he’d be sidelined or when he might be able to return.
“I’ve learned a lot from it”, Mallett said.
The Denver Broncos achieved an incredible milestone when the National Football League team broke the winning streak of the New England Patriots this season. Houston coach Bill O’Brien said his starter, Brian Hoyer, will miss the game after being diagnosed with his second concussion in less than a month.
Who knows, maybe Osweiler has more than meets the eye to him and the learning process will give the Broncos a better quarterback who can move better than he is right now and be a more risky passer than he is right now. Archie says that Peyton wants to come back this season and help the Broncos make a playoff run. “So, it’s something we’ve been dealing with, dealing with the right way and trying to get him back to where he feels really good and the progress has been very good”.
