Area placed under Winter Storm Watch
Little or no snow accumulation is expected during the day Tuesday, but there’s a chance of rain and snow by 8 p.m. Tuesday. Thursday brings a chance of rain and snow showers with a high near 41 and a low around 29.
A cold ridge of high pressure from Canadian will feed in cold temperatures at the surface across our state. A period of freezing rain or sleet is possible in far southeast Nebraska, southwest Iowa and northwest Missouri early Monday. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 20’s for most of the week with overnight lows in the teens.
Snow bands are quickly lifting north across much of the area this evening.
Rain will transition to ice and sleet for central and western Oklahoma tonight into Sunday morning. The “bulls-eye” for snow totals keeps changing, however, models are consistently showing the heaviest snow occurring in west Texas and northwestern Oklahoma. The main impact could be ice accumulation up to a quarter of an inch, as well as eastern winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts up to 45 miles per hour possible.
