N.W.A. To Be Inducted Into Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

“We can’t thank the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame enough for honoring Cheap Trick”, said Cheap Trick bass guitarist Tom Petersson in a statement. It’s an album that rightly sits atop the 2015 end-of-year lists for Spin, Rolling Stone, Vice and Billboard, and it’s one which Dr. Dre produced. That was pretty amusing. “If we’re doing something and it’s feeling kind of corny, I won’t want to do it. If we can do something cool…I think the audience wants to see something cool”.
Eight of the band’s past and current members will be inducted: Ritchie Blackmore, David Coverdale, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Glenn Hughes, Jon Lord, Ian Paice and original Deep Purple singer Rod Evans, who was sacked from the group in 1969. “[The committee] could dig a little deeper into the importance and the impact of these bands and discuss them in greater depth and make more of a case that maybe helped get them on the ballot”, Peresman told Billboard. “Bun E. had his arm in a sling and there was Hank Ransome”.

This year’s inductees will be celebrated at the annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on April 8 at New York City’s Barclays Center.
Three of the inductees, Cheap Trick, Chicago and Miller, had been nominated for the very first time, but they have been eligible for many years. Nielsen proposed. “Everyone in the world knows that song”.
Cheap Trick is working on the forthcoming album with Grammy-winning producer Julian Raymond, whose credits include a few of the band’s previous records. Getting our first record deal wasn’t too bad.

The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame is not without its critics, and came under scrutiny earlier this year, after it got rid of 16 of the 42 nominating committee members, many of whom were part of the early rock and R&B subcommittee.
