Beckham leads Giants over Dolphins
He nearly reached his three-week combined scoring total in one Monday Night Football game.
You knew coming into this game that Landry and his college teammate Odell Beckham Jr. wanted to put on a show in their first game against each other in the NFL. Miller ran right by Dahl on the way to the end zone.
“The guy is a tremendous, tremendous athlete and I think people fail to realize that”, Beckham said of Norman. Check. Ghastly tackling by Giants defenders at all three levels that turn potential tackles for losses into huge gains?
After Monday’s 31-24 defeat at the hands of the New York Giants at Sun Life Stadium, the Dolphins, at 5-8, have been eliminated from playoff contention. Manning addressed the mindset the team had entering the game in his postgame remarks, saying that the team understood it “needed a win”, Jeff Darlington of NFL.com reported.
Beckham is also the only player in the National Football League this season with two touchdown receptions of 80 or more yards, and the third player in National Football League history with 2,500-plus receiving yards in his first two seasons combined, joining Randy Moss and Bill Groman.
In the third, the Dolphins got back on top with a 47-yard hookup between Ryan Tannehill and Kenny Stills. A frustrated Landry pulled a page from the Giants’ 2015 yearbook when he became frustrated and tossed down Trevin Wade to earn a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty. He was also the Giants’ most effective pass rusher, recording four hurries and a QB hit. A team with better fortunes than the 2015 Miami Dolphins – basically the AFC equivalent of the most mediocre team in the NFC, the Giants – would have completed that play for a game-tying touchdown. The Dolphins fell to 41-41 on Monday Night Football.
Miami Dolphins are set to welcome former New York Giants defensive end Damontre Moore.
The Dolphins topped 20 points for the first time since October, but couldn’t keep up with Beckham, who had seven catches for 166 yards and two scores.
As TV analyst Jon Gruden pointed out, this is “day one training camp stuff”.
Who knows if they’ve got another silly late-season run left in them, but they’re really risky in the passing game if Eli plays like he did on Monday and there are three games left – two at home – for them to make a run and steal a playoff berth. That might not even be the worst part about Miami’s loss. On 3rd-and-2, they handed off to Jennings who shocked the northeast by converting with a 3-yard run. “They just made more plays and they hit us at times we didn’t need to get hit”. However, the biggest one was on offense when Jarvis Landry takes a dumb personal foul penalty on first-and-10 at the Giants’ 48 with 5:50 left. “They’ve taken all the shots from the outside (for their losing record), and they have continued to work hard, believing they can win”.
Unfortunately for the Giants, their next opponent is the Carolina Panthers, who have not lost a game this year.
It’s possible Tom Coughlin’s face, which didn’t fare very well when the Giants and Packers squared off in that memorable NFC title game at Lambeau in arctic conditions, could be in for another rough evening at TCF.
