TY Hilton: Play-Calling Partially To Blame For Colts’ Offensive Struggles

Backup quarterback, T.J. Yates tore his ACL on Sunday and was placed on IR for the rest of the season.

With a 16-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, the Houston Texans now lead the AFC South and have a great chance to make the playoffs. It has been a revolving door for Houston QB’ but Brian Hoyer could play in this one if he passes concussion protocol and if not Brandon Weeden os the lielly starter. QB Marcus Mariota completed 3-of-6 passes for 32 yards before exiting the game due to injury. The Texans are trying to match up personnel with the active group they are taking to games. Weeden was three completions short of the National Football League record of 24 by Donavan McNabb in 2004.

Results of games played by the Saints, Bengals, Jets (the unique teams the Texans have beaten) and the Falcons, Broncos and Dolphins (the unique teams the Colts have beaten), will affect the strength of victory for each team. He also threw an interception.

After suffering through 13 miserable years in Indianapolis, a third-string quarterback finally gave the Texans some relief Sunday. Houston’s Alfred Blue ran 20 times for 107 yards…. They rank dead last in yards per attempt. The Colts have produced two offensive touchdowns in their three-game losing streak, on drives of 42 and 48 yards, while failing to convert nine other red-zone opportunities. Fire them up in DFS or in season long. However, going into the Colts game, the Texans ranked 19 with a 99.1 yards per game average.

“Instead of six, seven, eight [defenders] in the box, it’s all 11 just waiting to tee off”, Hilton said. In the 2 half, Weeden went 6 of 12 for 64 yards leading the Texans to 13 2 half points.

Instead, receivers generally have been running routes that cut off at the first-down marker. The Texans, per usual played absolutely outstanding on defense against a Colts team that has not looked like itself all season. He’s been knocked out of the last three games with neck, rib, shoulder and jaw issues.

If the Colts win the next two, and the Texans lose them, Indianapolis finishes 8-8 and takes the AFC South title.

The Colts were hoping to have quarterback Andrew Luck back for Week 16, but the club will have to wait at least another week as head coach Chuck Pagano told reporters on Monday that Luck would miss next Sunday’s game at Miami.

Winning out won’t guarantee the Colts a playoff spot after the loss to Houston, but it’s the only shot available to them so it’s not much of a surprise that they’d go with Hasselbeck over Charlie Whitehurst even though they know there’s a decent chance Whitehurst will have to come into the game.

DeAndre Hopkins caught a pass in his 46 straight game. Winn had seen increased playing time for Indianapolis over the last couple of games.

-Place-kicker Adam Vinatieri has made 21 straight field goals this season. The Colts, in contrast, ran 19 times for 50 yards.
