Broncos quarterback Manning dismisses report of HGH use
Manning called the report, which was recanted by Al Jazeera’s primary source, “complete garbage”. “It never happened. Never”, Manning said in a statement released by the Broncos.
A report set to air on Sunday shows Charles Sly, a former intern at an Indianapolis anti-aging clinic, telling an undercover reporter that he supplied the drugs to Manning.
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning expressed fury and anger on Sunday, December 27, over allegations that he’s used illegal performance-enhancing drugs. There’s still a lot to be learned about this story in the coming weeks, but so far it’s clear Jim Irsay and the Colts have Manning’s back.
We’ve been made aware of the recent Al Jazeera report concerning Peyton Manning and find it utterly ridiculous.
Undercover not. Liam Collins became an American household name on Sun. morning, working at the side of Al Jazeera’s investigative team to unearth “secrets of the sports dopers”.
The Broncos, where Manning has played since 2012, issued similar remarks earlier Sunday, saying in part, “Knowing Peyton Manning and everything he stands for, the Denver Broncos support him 100 percent”.
“Sly, in a video posted on YouTube, said that, “… the statements on any recordings or communications that Al Jazeera plans to air are absolutely false and incorrect”.
Charlie Sly alleged in an Al Jazeera investigation that he shipped human growth hormones to Manning’s wife, whose name was on the shipping label.
“Peyton played the game in Indianapolis for 14 years the right way”, the statement continued. It said the drug, which was banned by the National Football League in the 2011 collective bargaining agreement, was delivered to his wife, Ashley, so that the quarterback’s name was never attached to the shipments. “I’m not sure I understand how someone can make something up about somebody….” Green Bay Packers Clay Matthews and Mike Neal; the Chicago Bears’ Julius Peppers; and a number of professional baseball players are also linked to other drugs. In the ESPN interview, Peyton admitted to going to the Guyer Institute while he was a member of the Colts, though said it was with the approval and supervision of the team and that the visits were during business hours in order to use a hyperbaric chamber.
Sly he has since recanted his accusations about Manning to Al Jazeera, but the paper ran them anyways. Al Jazeera claims Manning was given HGH during his rehab.
