Broncos QB Osweiler to start vs. Bengals
Head coach Gary Kubiak viewed the workout before the full team took the field. “He probably worked harder today than he did the other two days, in all honesty, but it was a real good workout”.
Let’s look at the tape to see what I mean. Mason also reports that Peyton Manning will not practice on Wednesday or for the rest of the week.
Per Palmer, Manning is back to the same point of his recovery as he was two weeks ago when he was doing these exact same morning workouts with the training staff.
Kubiak said Osweiler was “sore today… and all indications are that he’ll be OK”. “That’s part of football”, Kubiak said.
“I know. I need to shut up, ” Kubiak said with a smile Saturday. “It was a “Friday” workout”.
While they have a number of good players on their offense, they have had spells of inefficiency and mind-boggling mistakes.
The Cincinnati Bengals travel out to Denver for their consecutive week of heading west to face the Broncos on their home turf on Monday night for a huge showdown to further determine playoff seeding. Brock Osweiler entered the game after halftime, and has started 5 games since then.
The Broncos have gone 3-2 in that stretch with Osweiler completing 60.3 percent of his passes – Manning has completed 59.9 percent – while throwing eight touchdowns and four picks.
“I’ve felt comfortable all along, but certainly the more that you play, the more you learn and the more comfortable you are”, Osweiler said this week.
“I’m not going to sit here and bash the Pro Bowl selection just because I didn’t get in”, said Jackson, whose reward figures to come as a free agent this off-season. That would play perfectly into Denver’s hand as they’re giving up just 200 yards through the air each game. “I hope. The team should always be first”.
Replacing a legend like Manning hasn’t been easy for Osweiler, but he’s arguably been Denver’s best quarterback this season. “We’re going to stay focused on the positive and move forward”. Manning is nearly 40 years old and at that age, the body doesn’t heal as quickly as it once did.
