Full moon shines on Christmas for first time in 38 years
If that’s the case, check out some great photos of the Christmas full moon from around the world below.
Finland’s Ursa Astronomical Association, the oldest and largest amateur astronomy association in the country, states on its website that a full moon will shine down on Finland the night of December 25th.
EarthSky report, “The December 25, 2015 full moon is the Western Hemisphere’s first full moon on Christmas Day since 1977”. “The geologic history of the moon and Earth are intimately tied together, such that the Earth would be a dramatically different planet without the moon”.
But NASA is already aware of how the moon will appear next year thanks to its lunar planner.
A full moon on Christmas won’t happen again until 2034, almost two decades from now, NASA said.
A full cold moon was out shining bright at its peak Friday morning.
Watch the moon come up – you will feel like it’s very big.
Nice watching full moon on a christmas day. The last time this happened was in 1977, and we won’t see another celestial event like it until 2034.
A rare sight in the sky overhead this Christmas, and no, we’re not talking about Santa Claus.
