M calls for removal of ‘communal’ BJP, ‘corrupt’ TMC
The CPM Sunday called for the removal of the “communal” BJP from the Centre to save the country and “corrupt” Trinamool Congress from West Bengal to save the state, as its top brass converged in Kolkata for the party’s plenum – first in 37 years – to discuss ways to rejuvenate it.
Meanwhile, no speaker of the Sunday’s Brigade rally said nothing about the Congress party and its leaders which has opened the way of alliance between CPI-M and Congress for upcoming assembly election, political experts explained.
Yechury also said that too many aged leaders holding various posts was one of the problems the CPM was facing at present.
The rally, which kicked off CPM’s five-day Kolkata Plenum, was a show of strength for the party, which has been looking to regain relevance in the state ahead of next year’s Assembly elections.
With the CPI-M giving a call of remove the Trinamool and save Bengal, he said the Marxists need to answer the people about the sorry state of affairs they plunged Bengal into during their regime. At a time when the Modi government is attempting communal polarisation, we need to have a strong voice coming from Bengal.
“The condition of the country is not good”. So, the first call from this rally is ‘BJP hatao, desh bachao (Remove BJP, save the country)’…
“The condition of industrialisation is also very bleak”.
The report which has instructed “battle” against the tendency for factionalism, however, evaluated that Kerala was able to fight factionalism to some extent. He knows that the most important task for him would be to maintain unity among the politburo members on this issue as the Kerala lobby, led by Prakash Karat, is totally against stitching up any adjustment with the Congress. On the other hand, there is the possibility of a confrontation between the politburo and the party central committee, which has a large number of delegates from West Bengal. We need to bring together other democratic and secular forces with us.
Veteran Communist leader Biman Basu said that Trinamool Congress and the BJP are foes overtly but friends covertly.
In an apparent admission of differences within the party, he said it would be better if a “certain section” left the organisation. “I believe that people who like such development works, would support Mamata Banerjee”, he said. They scuttled the development we had planned for Singur, but could offer nothing in return. “Those who are in the fight and with the masses should stay with us and those who are not in the fight should stay away from the party”, Mishra said but did not specify who he wanted out.
