Reliance Jio launches 4G services for its group employees
Through two-way video conferencing, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Chairman & Managing Director Mukesh Ambani interacted with employees watching the event from distant places.
The launch event was held at Reliance Corporate Park, while RIL other employees were virtually connected at around 1000 locations including Dallas in the US.
India’s mobile subscriber base recorded 6.71% year-on-year growth to reach 980.81 million users in Q2 2015, according to the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of India.
Talking about this large organization with all the Ambani family, Khan also had previously disclosed, “I believe the electronic world, particularly with Jio, will transform from what I’ve comprehended till now since I ‘m the brand ambassador”.
The 4G services has been launched RIL employees, ahead of the full commercial roll-out in March 2016.
The company said that the Jio employee launch would help flawless the service, by the time it is rolled out in the market for customers.
Jio won 4G mobile airwaves in 2010 and on Sunday started rollout of nationwide commercial services.
Mukesh Ambani, who gave up the struggling Reliance Communications to younger brother Anil Ambani while splitting the assets, today focused on the family – his own and members of RIL – when he announced the launch in Navi Mumbai. As a result, today the company having spent Rs 34,000 crore in acquiring spectrum assets in the last five years has the largest footprint of liberalised spectrum in the country and is suitably positioned to provide a range of voice and high-speed data services.
Jio has reportedly invested over INR100,000 to acquire 800MHz spectrum in ten circles and 1800MHz spectrum in six circles. The Jio infrastructure enables features such as VoWiFi and VoLTE.
“While you enjoy Jio digital life, I am also counting on you to be part of co-creating the best experience for all our customers”, Ambani said. Ltd in a note released on 14 December said that the network under testing phase works better than Bharti Airtel’s 4G network, but that this could also be because the 4G network itself is not populated enough now.
The star-studded event, which featured Shah Rukh Khan and Academy-winning music director A R Rahman, saw many a firsts.
Late Dhirubhai Ambani’s wife Kokilaben began the glittering event with the lighting of the lamp along with son Mukesh, daughter-in-law Nita Ambani and grandchildren Isha, Akash and Anant.
