JJ Abrams really wishes he was directing the next ‘Star Wars’ sequel
It has been reported that the latest movie of the franchise’s iconic saga, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, has earned a box office hit of $40.1 million exclusively on its first weekday, which obliterated the 10-year Monday record held by the movie “Spider-Man 2” at $27.7 million, as stated by Forbes.
Although The Force Awakens has conquered the world of cinema, Episode VII director J.J. Abrams has even more faith in Episode VII. The new episode has now passed $300m in the USA and Canada, the world’s largest box office, and has a staggering $689.4m worldwide after less than a week on release.
I remember going to a Star Trek convention in 1976 where everyone was talking about this new sci-fi film coming out and seeing really tall furry creatures and guys in white plastic armor.
The few negative reviews of The Force Awakens appear unlikely to damage its chances of overhauling Avatar’s all-time $2.78bn box-office record. It did not take the record for the biggest Wednesday but it is getting close to another record.
With that said, let’s take a look at a few options for how Disney and Lucasfilm could handle the new era of Star Wars movies.
In 2005, the previous Star Wars installment was comparatively unknown in China and brought in just $9 million in ticket sales.
As Darth Vader once said, the force is strong with this one (at the box office).
That’s great news for Star Wars fans, as it suggests the next Star Wars movie will be just as good, if not better, than “The Force Awakens”.
“It’s very good, very good”, she said.
The CGI and special effects are top notch but never do they overtake the film.
Another possibility that fans have been buzzing about is the potential to remake the prequel trilogy, essentially rewriting Episodes I-III out of Star Wars canon.
“In the United States there are “Star Wars” comics, games and other products released all the time – helping create an ardent fan base”, he said. “This could lower its impact”.
