NFL moves Vikings-Packers to Sunday night
The Falcons play the undefeated Panthers in one of the early games, which means the Vikings can technically have already clinched before they even take the field on Sunday night. The Vikings would clinch at least a wild-card berth if they defeat the Giants.
On Sunday night the Vikings and Packers will play at 8:30 pm ET with the division title and a home game in the playoffs up for grabs.
Sunday’s announcement comes as no surprise.
We’ll have more on the possible seeding scenarios for the Vikings in the playoffs a bit later on.
If they lose to Green Bay and Seattle (9-6) loses at Arizona, the Vikings will be the No. 5 seed and open the playoffs at Washington. The victor of the Packers-Vikings regular-season finale will win the division title and more importantly, host its first playoff game on wild-card weekend. The Vikings are in the playoffs with a chance to win the NFC North after the Packers lost on Sunday afternoon and Minnesota won on Sunday night. But in a league as cyclical as the NFL is on a weekly basis, Sunday’s tilt should be an exciting one-and possibly serve as a preview of a playoff matchup to come.
