Suspended BJP leader Kirti Azad vows to expose DDCA corruption
“It is being fed to the media that the Delhi government’s probe report did not mention the name of Union Finance Minister Mr Arun Jaitley, and the BJP is trying to falsely project that the report gives him a clean chit”.
The BJP’s suspended MP Kirti Azad on Monday said he wants to expose the corrupt in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).
“Why is Jaitley ji afraid of facing enquiry?”
He followed up that tweet with two more tweets saying, “No clean chit ever given by any Del govt probe”. That report confirmed several instances of wrongdoings but did not fix responsibility. Replying to a query, Azad said he was willing to share details with the commission of inquiry ordered by the Arvind Kejriwal government into the DDCA issue.
He said in his press conference Kejriwal had attacked Jaitley alleging that the CBI raid was carried out for the DDCA file. “Delhi government inquiry report on DDCA has no mention of Arun Jaitley”.
The AAP has been demanding resignation of Jaitley, accusing him of involvement in alleged irregularities in DDCA during his term as chief of the association. He claimed he had shared the evidence with the then DDCA head, a reference to Jaitley, but nothing happened.
The panel slammed BCCI for its “inaction” in the affairs of DDCA and had recommended that Delhi Government should approach the Supreme Court with a request to have Justice Lodha Committee advice regarding streamlining of the functioning of the cricket administrator.
Sisodia said an inquiry commission headed by former solicitor general Gopal Subramaniam that the city government set up has yet to start its probe, and that Jaitley would have a lot to answer for.
The report by the committee, headed by Principal Secretary, Vigilance, Chetan Sanghi, reveals went deeply into the affairs of the national capital’s cricket association, referring at length to a host of issues, including alleged irregularities in the cost of reconstruction of the Ferozshah Kotla Stadium and complaints of forgery in age verification certificates. In that report, it is clearly mentioned that there are irregularities.
