Washington wins NFC East to loom as potential playoff foe for Seahawks
Vikings-Packers from Lambeau Field will wrap up the regular season and the team that wins will carry away the NFC North crown.
If the Vikings (10-5) defeat the Packers (10-5), they will secure the No. 3 seed in the NFC Playoffs.
The Packers and Vikings are both 10-5, and with the division title on the line, NBC saw that as the most attractive Week 17 matchup. They would still be playing for the NFC North championship next week, as previously mentioned, meaning that they could still win the division (and a playoff spot) with a win next week. Sunday’s game marks the second Green Bay-Minnesota matchup during that stretch. Four of the games have playoff seeding implications.
Carolina’s game was originally scheduled for 10 a.m., but it was moved to 1:25 p.m.so that it takes place simultaneously with the Seattle-Arizona game.
Washington beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-24 Saturday night to win the NFC East and now looms as the most likely Wild Card playoff round foe for the Seattle Seahawks.
In order to finish with the No. 5 seed and play at Washington in the first round of the playoffs, the Seahawks would need the Vikings to lose both of their remaining games. Instead, the Atlanta Falcons beat the Panthers 20-13, meaning the Vikings needed the Seattle Seahawks to beat the St. Louis Rams to take the Atlanta Falcons out of the tie-breaker scenarios.
