He said the Congress should not have raked up the case of Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje signing an affidavit to get permanent residency for Modi in Britain, as the move broke 65 years of consensus of not raising state issues in Parliament, with the exception of human right violations, communal riots and atrocities on women.
Swaraj on Tuesday has said that she was ready for a debate in Parliament over Congress allegations about her links with controversial former IPL chief Lalit Modi.

Communist Party of India-Marxist leader Sitaram Yechury then said a probe should be ordered in the Lalit Modi case as well as Vyapam scam and all tainted ministers should demit office till the probes concludes. Congress tactics is not to discuss but to disrupt which will “boomerang on them”, the Union Minister said indicating that the confrontation would continue as government would not accept the opposition demand. Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP) had submitted a notice to chairman Hamid Ansari to suspend business under Rule 267.
As opposition members refused to relent and Congress MPs trooped into the well shouting slogans, minister of state for parliamentary affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, “Ministers will not resign”.
He said the Congress was “running away from discussion because it knows it will be exposed”. Akbar, who won the Rajya Sabha bypolls from Jharkhand earlier this month, took oath as a Rajya Sabha Member.
