Winning home finale for Woodson

The Raiders improved to 7-8 with their win while the Chargers fell to 4-11. Nothing is official yet, but the Raiders, Chargers and Rams are all expected to apply next month for the right to relocate to the Los Angeles area. Woodson announced earlier this week that he would retire at the end this season, which was his 18. Trying to bid Woodson with the exclamation point to his Hall of Fame profession, the Raiders designed an offensive play for him-primarily a stroll off play-within the red zone on 1st & goal. NOT ONE. And yet, they still managed to take the game to overtime.

-OLB Melvin Ingram had one sack Thursday night against Oakland, giving him a team-high nine for the season.

Carr completed 24 of 39 passes for 209 yards and one touchdown with one interception. San Diego elected to take the points off the board and it looked like the risk would pay off. Rivers hit Ladarius Green for a 30-yard touchdown. He’ll be a low-end WR3 against the Chiefs in Week 17.

Eyes got big: Benson Mayowa said he saw Malcolm Smith force a fumble by tight end David Johnson and saw the football fly into the air. Crabtree has been making extremely few plays the past six weeks.

A wild hail mary attempt by the Raiders ended the first half.

The AFC West still has the San Diego Chargers’ number.

“They called my number and give it to San Diego, they had the right defense going”, Woodson explained. Hayden committed a costly penalty to put the Chargers in position to kick the game-tying field goal.

The Chargers wound up settling for another field-goal try, and this time Lambo missed from 48 yards. It was an emotional victory, one led by Woodson’s passion for the all things Raiders and his connection with fans and teammates. However, after a video review, the pass was ruled incomplete because the ball hit the ground when Green landed in the end zone. He finished with 19 carries for 79 yards and now has 1,035 yards. Instead the play went for a 3-yard loss.

It was another tough night for Carr, who had just 134 passing yards in regulation. Donald Brown came on and rushed for 90 yards while Danny Woodhead scored four touchdowns, three on passes from Rivers. “Nobody wants to go out with negative-three yards rushing”. There were rumblings in the days leading up to this game against the San Diego Chargers that Woodson could play some offense.

The Chargers tied it on Josh Lambo’s 47-yard field goal with 55 seconds to play.

Will Thursday night be the last time the Raiders play a home game in Oakland? “It’s good for it to be this night, a night where it’s my last game in the Coliseum to have the dramatics but come out with the win”. Dontrelle Inman started in his place….
