When ex-Cong Minister made ‘shameful comment’ about Smriti Irani, PM Modi

Reacting to BJP workers attempted gherao of Congress headquarter here today and subsequent clash with Congress workers, which was controlled by police later, Mr Dutta accused the BJP of trying to aggravate the situation arising out of the remark, especially since Mr Deka has already withdrawn it.

Strongly condemning the remarks, Union Sports Minister and Assam unit BJP Chief Sarbananda Sonowal told reporters here that the party’s state unit will soon file a defamation case against him. “Does Sonowal think it is Assam agitation?” he asked. He said Congress has urged Guwahati police commissioner to find out how the protest rally was taken without police permission.

Continuing her attack, Irani said Congress during its long tenure could not link the seven Northeast state capitals through rail.
