Marcus Mariota out next week for Titans
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (12) passes to New England Patriots running back James White (28) in the first half of an NFL football game against the Tennessee Titans, Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, in Foxborough, Mass. The Cardinals (12-2) will earn a first-round bye with a win over Green Bay next week. “But we’re in the process of putting the game plan together right now”.
Earlier this season, Watt and the Texans got to Mettenberger seven times while he subbed for an injured Mariota.
However, the bodies continue to fall.
Mettenberger started in place of Mariota when he missed two games for a knee injury in October.
Despite the win, Patriots suffered more injuries Sunday night as linebacker Dont’a Hightower (knee), receiver Danny Amendola (knee) and safety Patrick Chung (hip) left the game during various junctures. WR Julian Edelman was still out for New England and the home team was also missing S Devin McCourty, TE Scott Chandler and C Bryan Stork because of injuries….
This is the second MCL injury this season with the first one happening back in October against the Dolphins.
With Mariota out, the Titans (3-11) likely will sign Mike Kafka off the practice squad after signing the quarterback last week.
They could play a spoiler role in the AFC South and better yet finish with a. 500 record in the struggling division by winning out.
-WR Kendall Wright (ribs) revealed Monday that he broke two ribs against Jacksonville, something that caused him to miss the previous two games. It’s fair to wonder if the Titans will put up a serious fight in those games. He left the game in the second quarter after running back Antonio Andrews failed to block linebacker Jamie Collins.
Mariota ends a promising rookie year with 2,818 passing yards, 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, completing 62 percent of his passes and throwing for 7.6 yards per attempt. “That’s the preparation backups have every week”, Mettenberger said. “You have to be ready and then when your number is called go out and execute”. “You can’t ask for anything better than what he’s been doing for this offense, making plays on his feet when he needed to, and finding the open guys to get them the ball”.
“Because of the injury not being to the state the other one was, and the competitive part of Marcus – he’s a fast healer, so we’ll just see, ‘ Mularkey said of Mariota’s chances of playing against the Colts”.
