Marcus Mariota’s season not yet over
The Titans quarterback suffered a right knee injury against the Patriots, and according to a report, he won’t play again this season.
QB Marcus Mariota will be out vs. the Texans this week.
“Certainly if there’s any issues, if we have any concerns as we did (Sunday), we would not play him”, Mularkey said.
The Houston Texans will not face rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota on Sunday when they travel to Tennessee.
Mettenberger replaced Mariota on the next series, and finished the 33-16 loss to the Patriots.
Mariota missed two games in October due to an MCL sprain in his left knee after an illegal hit by Miami’s Olivier Vernon.
The 2015 season might be over for Marcus Mariota, but he has a very bright future as the franchise quarterback of the Tennessee Titans.
Mariota said after the game that his knee got twisted up underneath him on the sack. “I wanted to get out there and play with the guys, but Zach is more than capable of taking over the team”.
Mettenberger threw for 242 yards with two touchdowns but was intercepted twice in the fourth quarter in New England. After his press conference today he was more than a little upset that the rumors were out there that Mariota’s stellar rookie season was at an end. Mettenberger has started three games against the Texans in his career and is 0-3 in those starts.
In 12 games, Mariota had 19 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, 2,818 yards, and a 62.2 completion percentage. Wright, who has missed the past two games, said he hopes to play Sunday despite having two broken ribs. His rating slipped in each of his next four starts, twice dipping below 70. “In any situation I am going to prepare like I’m the starter and we’ll see”.
