Dez Bryant: Cowboys to run tests on Dez’s foot, knee
Wide receiver Dez Bryant didn’t travel to Buffalo and has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Bills. But the Cowboys’ depth issues make it too hard to bench him, as they’ve been without Orlando Scandrick all season because of a knee injury.
Butler led the team in receiving with 74 yards on four catches, and proved to be a deep threat-which is something the Cowboys have really been without for much of the year.
Bryant, who had been listed as doubtful on Friday, did not practice during the week and could miss the season finale against the Washington Redskins on January 3. Opposing teams defenses can not stack eight defenders in the box to stop the run when Bryant is lined up outside, so his presence is something that Kellen Moore will miss when he makes his first career National Football League start. He had a bone graft done at the time of the surgery to help promote healing, which is how the Cowboys dealt with the same fracture to defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence past year.
It was only Butler’s second game back from a hamstring injury that kept him sidelined for seven weeks. He has not had more than five catches in a game this season and has just one 100-yard game.
“Bryant has been downgraded to out for Sunday”s game against Buffalo, and very well could be done for the season. There is no question, that this is definitely a season that the Cowboys and Bryant want to finish and move on to 2016 as fast as possible.
