Odell Beckham Jr.is going to have to serve his one-game suspension.
Beckham delivered a deliberate shot to the helmet of Norman after the play was over in one incident and they repeatedly were shoving and wrestling with each other.
Beckham was suspended one game for his aggressive and violent actions in Sunday’s loss to the Panthers.
“I appealed my suspension because it is a right granted to all palyers under the NFL’s CBA and because I owe it to my teammates to do everything I can to be on the field this week”, Beckham said in a statement. And in order to fill that spot, Big Blue looked within, promoting wide receiver Ben Edwards from their practice squad to their 53-man roster.
Lesson here is Odell Beckham Jr is easily a top five receiver, but he needs to keep his composure. The second-year pro has been the team’s most productive player, with 91 catches for 1,396 yards and 13 touchdowns, the latter figure tying a franchise record.
“I am not here to make excuses for my conduct”, he continued.
Odell Beckham vs. Josh Norman has been booked as the Main Event for UFC 200, every boxing PPV in 2016, Micah “Mad Dog” Mandelbaum’s Bar Mitzvah entertainment, and the Super Bowl 50 halftime show. He will be eligible to play Sunday night at Minnesota.
“It is not fun to get hit, period”, he said afterward. Players such as the Tennesse Titans’ Delanie Walker (leads all tight ends in receptions) and the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Rashad Jones (perhaps the best safety in the league) were not voted into the game.
Brinkley will have to put that friendship aside Sunday night when the Giants take on Peterson and the Vikings at TCF Bank Stadium, which is a tall task considering Peterson has rushed for 100 or more yards six times this season. This is about my behavior, and I am responsible for my behavior. Peterson sprained his left ankle in last week’s 38-17 victory over NFC North rival Chicago, but the NFL’s leading rusher said he expects to play Sunday as Minnesota bids for a playoff berth. “We know how much he (Beckham) wants to be here with us, and from the type of player he is, he really wants to be here. They had spoken to the players”, Blandino said.
“I’m not naïve to that fact”, he said.
The NFL has said that abusive language toward opponents can subject a player to a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, but the league has never disciplined a player for using a slur on the field. A big part of the problem is Randle has averaged only 5.6 targets per game in 2015.
