Javier Hernandez reveals why he had to leave Man Utd
The 27-year-old returned to Old Trafford this summer and made three appearances, but he was told his future looked bleak and he left for the Bundesliga, thanking everyone at United, bar Van Gaal.
“I spoke with Van Gaal and he said that I only had a one per cent chance of playing in my position, so I headed to Bayer”, he told Movistar, as reported by Sky Sports.
Van Gaal’s has signed a deal to manage United until the summer of 2017, with club insiders confirming last weekend that they had every intention of standing behind their increasingly unpopular manager.
United has already exited from the Champions’ League group stage this season, and Ferdinand fears the dismal run shall continue in the Premiership, too, which could see the club finishing below the top four in the tournament.
“I just felt that coming in and trying to take my mind off things would make it a little bit easier, and my family would want me to play”, he told the club’s website.
The France worldwide has started 10 of United’s 16 Premier League games so far this season and played the full 90 minutes as the Red Devils slumped to a disappointing 2-1 loss to Bournemouth last Saturday.
But following elimination from the Champions League and several 0-0 draws and defeats in recent weeks, Manchester United fans are seemingly done with defending their manager.
“My time at Manchester United was good”, Hernandez said.
Hernandez spent last season on loan at Real Madrid as his United career petered away after a great start.
The proposed ‘ Louis van Gaal out’ banner which was set to be flown over Old Trafford has been confirmed as a hoax.
“I am totally grateful to Ferguson”. You have to do the same things but, when you lose, then it is more hard because every player is very disappointed. It was one of the best experience of my life.
