Peyton Manning’s future with Broncos could hinge on ‘pivotal’ Saturday workout
This will be the sixth straight start of Osweiler while Peyton Manning continues rehab a torn planter fascia in his left foot.
The Broncos play the Cincinnati Bengals Monday night, so it is expected Kubiak as well as Manning and the team’s medical staff will decide Tuesday whether the 39-year-old will make another attempt to return to practice in the coming week.
In his absence, the Broncos went with Osweiler who played well entrusted with the starting job and is 3-2 in five games started.
“I haven’t said a thing” to them, Osweiler said. “He’s doing everything that we ask him to do and he’s doing it because he wants to do it”. I feel really good about where he is. “So I just try to hold the team and myself up to that standard”.
It’s been rough for the Broncos’ offense in the first half against the Cincinnati Bengals, to say the least.
“He just didn’t have a good day last Friday, so we just start the process over again this week”, Kubiak said.
Against Pittsburgh last week, Brock Osweiler threw for 214 yards and three touchdowns, but was shut out in the second half, throwing only 7-26 and recorded an interception.
Second, Osweiler has a very positive demeanor.
Osweiler had a hot streak to begin his stint as the starting quarterback, with Denver going on to defeat the Chicago Bears (Week 11), defending champions New England Patriots (Week 12), and the San Diego Chargers (Week 13).
The Denver Broncos offense has looked different since Brock Osweiler took over for the injured Peyton Manning, with some saying it’s more efficient. The line must give Osweiler a bit more time, to allow him to get to his second read. But the key to the game may rest in whether the Broncos’ ground game can find the form it has shown in flashes over the last few weeks. They have a lot of talented players. Tonight, obviously the first half didn’t go the way that we wanted it to, but that’s football.
