N.W.A Leads 2016 Rock Hall Inductees
After being nominated four times, American hip-hop group N.W.A. (short for N–s With Attitude) is being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Artists are eligible for inclusion in the Cleveland, Ohio-based Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first recording.

For whatever it’s worth, Chicago easily won the fan voting component with 37.7 million votes.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame reportedly dismissed a large number of their voters and this year, and tried to include more women and younger voters in the process of determining who the inductees should be.
The list of snubs this year is more impressive than the list of inductees: beloved British mopers The Smiths, industrial pioneers Nine Inch Nails, soul diva Chaka Khan, pop megastar Janet Jackson and, for the 10th year in a row, funk/pop/disco legends Chic were left out in the cold.
The 2016 Hall of Famers will be honored at the induction ceremony on April 8. The upcoming project is part of a new deal the group has signed with music mogul Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Label Group, the same company Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler has partnered with for his forthcoming solo album. Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five made history in 2007 when they were the first rap group to be inducted into the hallowed hall. The surviving members of N.W.A. (Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella) will also need to find a stand-in for the Eazy-E, who passed away in 1995.

Ground-breaking rap act NWA, Deep Purple and Chicago have been announced as inductees of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The event is being taped for a later broadcast on HBO, probably in May. I’m glad they took their time. “If I was running the Hall of Fame, I wouldn’t have known how to do it…But it looks like we’re in and I’m very pleased”.
With their visceral social commentary and dedication to rule-breaking, it’s easy to see why N.W.A have found a home amongst Rock & Roll greats.
