Snow emergency rules for Minneapolis and St. Paul
The City of Stoughton has declared a Snow Emergency. When that happens, pay attention to the signs – snow emergency routes can’t be parked on, and most other residential streets you switch sides depending on which day it is. Vehicles not moved from Night Plow Routes by 9 p.m. on the day of the declared snow emergency will be ticketed and towed. Below is a quick rundown of snow emergency parking rules for both Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Those who don’t follow the rules risk getting towed.
Snowfall of 3 inches or more will “typically” result in a snow emergency in St. Paul.
The Snow Emergency will go into effect beginning at 5pm, Monday, December 28th and is set to expire at 8am, Tuesday, December 29th.
You can sign up for email, text, or phone alerts for snow emergencies. However, only those on snow routes are required to move them.
Parking on Posted Snow Routes is prohibited during active Snow Emergency Declarations. The snow ordinance will remain in effect until the streets are completely plowed from curb to curb, and it has stopped snowing. Plows may come through a few times, so make sure that it is fully plowed as wide as possible before parking. That means you park on the odd numbered side of the street on odd numbered days and the even numbered side of the street on even numbered days.
Brooklyn Park – No parking on city streets until they’ve been plowed.
