Cal beats Air Force 55-36 in Armed Forces Bowl

Regardless of whether it’s his final game as Cal’s quarterback, Jared Goff can rest easy knowing he has the Bears back on the winning track. Goff threw for 467 yards and six touchdowns on the afternoon, carving up the Falcons secondary easily.
What’s at stake: The inaugural Arizona Bowl is the first non-playoff bowl to have two teams from the same conference (Mountain West) since the 1979 Orange Bowl with Nebraska and Oklahoma.
Priority number one for the Bears will be to stop, or at least slow down the Falcons’ prolific ground attack, which will be a lot easier said than done.
As a freshmen and sophomore, he didn’t get much playing time but was thrust in to the lineup in Air Force’s fourth game of the season after the team’s starting nose tackle tore his ACL. You get to see a run and shoot team against a triple-option team or you get to see a spread-run team vs. a spread-pass team.
The Cal run defense will face a tall task on Tuesday.

The victory went on to be integral in finishing ahead of the Broncos and winning the Mountain Division of the Mountain West Conference.

But the Bears have not been able to take advantage of the possibilities of the offense yet this year, so it is yet to be seen whether they will actually be able to match Air Force. Lawler started the season off incredibly hot with eight touchdowns and over 400 yards receiving in Cal’s first five games, all of which were victories. He showed why in a 55-36 win over Air Force. Marquise Williams and the Tar Heels will set the pace, but Baylor makes more plays in the end.
Goff broke his single-season school records by throwing for 4,252 yards and 37 touchdowns. However, if it goes like it should, both offenses will move the ball, and in a hurry. The Golden Bears have six players that have better than 35 catches on the season – those players have combined to catch 32 touchdown passes on the year and all average at least 11.5 yards per cath this season. He’s run for 484 yards and 10 TDs.
