Al Jazeera: We never accused Peyton Manning of doping
Al Jazeera reporter Deborah Davies appeared on NBC’s Today show Tuesday morning to further defend the documentary the network aired Sunday night, The Dark Side: Secrets of the Sports Dopers, which, among other allegations, claims that multiple shipments of human growth hormone were sent to Peyton Manning’s wife, Ashley Manning.
The documentary alleges Ashley Manning received HGH shipments in 2011, the same year Manning was recovering from neck surgery that had threatened to end his legendary National Football League career.
“That has nothing to do with me”.
Asked if he had ever used HGH or any other performance-enhancing drugs, Manning said: “Absolutely not”. Now sly said he made it all up to test the reporter and recanting in a video posted online.
“Time ended up being probably my best medicine along with a lot of hard work”, Manning told ESPN. “Disgusted is really how I feel, sickened by it…It’s completely fabricated, complete trash, garbage-there’s some more adjectives I’d like to be able to use”. I would think if he’s going to sue he would sue Al jazeera, he’ll say, they’re the ones who were irresponsible for putting this on the air. But Sly never worked as a pharmacist there, head of the institute Dr. Dale Guyer said, according to ESPN.
“Absolutely not. And what hurts me the most about this is whoever this guy is, this slapstick trying to insinuate that in 2011, when I more or less had a broken neck”, he said.
He added, “I fully support Peyton”. He’s a guy that I can always count on and he’s been someone who has always been so supportive of me. “That whole character and that father-and-husband mentality is very important to me”.
Al Jazeera is standing firm behind its explosive report that links Peyton Manning’s wife to banned drugs dispensed by an anti-aging clinic. Manning angrily denied using performance-enhancing substances shortly after the Al Jazeera report went public Saturday.
In the Manning scandal, the response from the star was quick and deliberate: He told ESPN he’d gotten legal therapy at the Indianapolis clinic including including nutrition and oxygen therapy, “but never HGH.” . Manning’s agent also state that the claim was false, and that Colts doctors and personnel had knowledge of his treatment, and that Ashley Manning’s health and treatments are her own private matter.
“Al Jazeera’s allegations are very concerning, particularly as it relates to the NFL’s and MLB’s testing programs”, David Howman, director general of WADA, said in a statement on Monday. “Mr. Manning is one of the most honorable and upstanding individuals I have had the pleasure of knowing”.
