What to watch for in Redskins vs. Eagles on Saturday

Up and down is the best way to describe this year’s Eagles. We control our destiny. If the Eagles lose to the Redskins, they would miss the playoffs for the second consecutive year and in four of the past five.

The quarterback situation with the Washington Redskins has been a mess for a while, but that doesn’t appear to be the case any longer. If the Eagles win out, they are division champs. The Redskins won 23-20. Pierre Garcon is a tough receiver, who is like a running back when he gets the ball.

Four touchdown passes by Kirk Cousins had helped Washington to an easier than it sounds 35-25 triumph over Rex Ryan’s Bills on Sunday afternoon at FedEx Field. They’re hitting on all cylinders right now. Cousins was brilliant, completing 22-of-28 for 319 yards.

It had to occur to him sometime during his victory celebration at Shake Shack when Cousins realized that he might need to trademark the phrase that is sweeping the Greater DC are: “You Like That?!?”.

Drafting Cousins in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft was meant to be a precautionary measure just in case first-round selection Robert Griffin III didn’t pan out.

At this point in the season there is no defense too weak to cause problems for Philadelphia’s offense. The Giants also came out flat against the Redskins and Eagles. It’s going to be up to cornerbacks Eric Rowe and probably E.J.

“We just keep taking steps forward”. Since they ran for 172 yards against the Cowboys, the Eagles have averaged more than 4.0 yards per carry just once and that came in the blowout loss to Tampa Bay where the yards were garbage yards.

Unfortunately for Washington, the last two games on its schedule are on the road.
