Macy’s recalls 2 Martha Stewart frying pans after injuries
Macy’s has recalled thousands of Martha Stewart frying pans following reports of customers being hit by metal disks that popped off during cooking.
The sets were sold online and in Macy’s stores between January 2011 and September 2015 as well as through Military Exchanges.
Already three people have suffered “bruises, burns and welts” when they were hit with the flying pieces of metal, the Consumer Product Saefty Commission said in announcing the recall. The rivets, which have stainless steel discs on top of them, attach the handles to the pans. Those sets were also sold at shops on military bases.
The cookware sets were made in China and imported by Macy’s. UPC numbers 0733003518899, 0733003623326, 0766370840959 or 0766370980334 can be found on the product packaging or purchase receipt.
In a statement Macy’s said, it voluntarily issued the recall after receiving consumer complaints and is “prepared to serve customers who return the recalled pans for refund or replacement”. For information on the recall visit the CDC’s website.
The Martha Stewart brand was bought by brand management company Sequential Brands Group Inc. earlier this month.
