Ghostly ‘Christmas tree’ in abandoned Charity Hospital spooks social media
– Peculiar photos of an abandoned hospital room in New Orleans have been circulating on social media.
A doctor at neighboring Tulane Medical Center wrote on Facebook that he heard from colleagues about the lit window – described initially as a Christmas tree – and went to the parking garage to see for himself.
She wrote: ‘For those few of you who may not know…I work at an inner city New Orleans hospital that happens to be situated directly across from Charity hospital. But a very nice sight to see in the window of a dark building.
The speculation was ended, however, when an urban explorer, theshortestsim, claimed to have entered the building and uploaded a photo of a cardboard structure with lights to their Instagram profile.
Once the image reached over 6,000 shares on Facebook, WGNO reported that the light coming from the abandoned hospital is actually two two-by-fours (wood planks) that are wrapped in Christmas lights. “That kinda makes it creepier to me…like are ghosts having xmas up in there?” If the object is indeed a Christmas tree, it was most likely put there by someone who was trespassing.
‘We are treating this as a break-in, ‘ Leslie Capo from the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, which Charity Hospital used to be a part of, told the outlet.
“The only thing scary about this is how much the City of NOLA spends to keep the power on”, they said.
The story was shared so many times that police chose to investigate and said there was evidence of a break-in.
