Netflix adds New Year’s Eve countdowns for kids
Netflix launched a similar special last year in which King Julien, the lemur from Madagascar, welcomed children into the “new year” with his own countdown.
The idea is that parents can cue up a special in the hours before midnight, and their kids can watch the characters from their favorite show countdown to the new year, over and over again, at anytime throughout the evening.
The new year starts at 9 p.m. for almost half of parents in the USA, reports a Netflix survey. Netflix response of specialized kids countdowns shows for the countdown to 2016 allows them to do just that.
And if a quiet, relaxing New Year’s Eve is more your speed, you can always get comfy on the couch and switch over to Netflix’s fake-fireplace video.
The popular streaming video service is offering a “streaming countdown” so that parents and kids can celebrate the New Year as a family…a little before the actual ball drops at midnight.
Parents: No need to keep the kids up this New Year’s Eve.
If you have Netflix, you will not have to wait until midnight to ring in the new year.
As for the ideal timing, the survey found that over 70 per cent of parents would begin the countdown before 11 p.m., and 20 per cent of parents would choose 9 p.m.as their ideal countdown time.
