After missing his first game as a member of the Saints in Week 3, when he was out with a bruised rotator cuff, Brees showed why he’s endeared himself to his teammates and fans of the franchise when he played through the pain Sunday.

In the first half of that game, which is still ongoing, Brees had completed 14 of his 22 pass attempts for 251 yards while tossing a pair of touchdowns. He said he expected Brees to play well after seeing his limited work in his return to practice Friday. “It’s really tough in trying to play offense, when you get behind like that”, Bortles said. “Obviously I was limited but felt like the game plan and just kind of the way everything unfolded I ended up being okay”.
