Draymond Green, O.J. Mayo have skirmish after Bucks-Warriors
It is the first and only time the Warriors have not scored at least 100 points in a game all season long.
A section of the Bucks’ fans wore green T-shirts stamped with the message “24-1” when the Warriors’ unbeaten start was snapped at 24 games last Saturday, and Bay Area company Oaklandish on Friday responded by adding a loss to the Bucks’ record, putting gold print of “10-18” on blue T’s.
“I expected us to be better in the first half but we just didn’t defend”, Draymond Green said.
“(The Bucks) came out and wanted a piece of the champs and we weren’t fighting back. “We use our length on the defensive end and on the offensive end and we try to make it as tough as possible for them”.
So Mayo jawed with Green over that, then patted Green on the head.
Klay Thompson agreed with Green about Carter-Williams’ dunk, saying they were upset with the dunk, but rather they were mad about, “the stare-down, trying to talk nasty in the game like that”.
Golden State exacted revenge for Milwaukee’s 108-95 win last Saturday – the Warriors only loss of the season to date – but they had to scratch and claw for a 121-112 win Friday night at Oracle Arena.
“Show a little respect”, Mayo said via MSN.com.
It didn’t come easy, as Golden State trailed by as many as 15 points in the third quarter and by 11 points with less than eight minutes to play before Green and Curry took over to improve Golden State to 26-1.
Green held up his hand as Mayo made contact with Green’s chest after the buzzer.
“There are different ways of getting your point across rather than going to the media bashing one of our brothers”, Mayo told reporters (via CBS Sports).
Bogut left the game with a back sprain after playing five minutes, and according to coach Luke Walton, the center reported soreness in warm-ups and that he was hurting in the game. I think the confidence level is there, and when he gets energized or chirpy, we, as a team and a staff, we have his back. “I mean we had 58 points”. Bucks C Greg Monroe was given the thumbs-up to return from a two-game absence after testing his sore left knee about an hour before the game…. He was able to overcome 6 turnovers to amass 26 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists.
“They hit shots and the tide turned”, Bucks coach Jason Kidd said. “He was yelling at Steve, and Steve kind of leans over to us and says, ‘We’re good now”.
Mirza Teletovic scored 24 points off the bench to lead the Suns, whose poor showing sent the sellout crowd to the exits midway through the fourth.
Seven Bucks players scored in double figures, including all five starters. Both teams shot the ball efficiently, but the Bucks earned many trips to the line late in the quarter, spurring a 10-0 run that put them up 36-33 at the end of one.
Thompson, whose previous season best was 39 at IN eight days earlier, hit 15 of 22 shots, including eight of 13 3-point attempts. Milwaukee was 14-20 in the paint, jumping out to a 12-point lead in the first half.
NOTES: The Warriors’ 46-point third quarter was the highest scoring period for any team this season….
