Amid Jumbled Message, Putin Finds Common Ground With the US
During an interview on MSNBC’s Morning Joe earlier today, Donald Trump discussed a compliment Vladimir Putin gave him earlier this week, when the Russian President called Trump “brilliant” and “the absolute leader in the presidential race”.
SCARBOROUGH:…and invades countries, obviously that would be a concern, would it not? “Unlike what we have in this country”.
“If someone in the Turkish leadership made a decision to lick the Americans in a particular place, I don’t know whether they acted correctly or not and I don’t know… whether the Americans needed that”, Mr Putin, said referring to the shooting-down. A lot of stupidity. But you didn’t ask me [that] question, you asked me a different question.
Trump has said in the past that he sees himself getting along with Putin.
First, the Russian leader, during an annual news conference in Moscow, described Trump as “an outstanding and talented personality”, adding: “He is a bright and talented person without any doubt”.
Trump also said he thinks America’s relationship with Russian Federation would be “good” if we were President.
Putin’s comments could also be interpreted as “a little bit of a show over the bow, I would say, to Turkey”, Dougherty said.
Speaking about Ukraine later in the segment, Trump chastised other countries like Germany for not doing more to stop Russian Federation while taking their oil and gas. Or like Putin, Trump might destroy a city and then rename the main street in that city after himself.
Trump did not elaborate on who the United States kills in the manner of Putin.
“To get praise from Vladimir Putin is not going to help Donald Trump”, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush told CNN on Thursday.
One would assume that Trump’s opponents would offer a simple reply: If you want Putin’s endorsement, you’re welcome to it.
It remains to be a seen if Trump’s tacit approval of Putin will cause even a blip in his polling numbers.
Great honor? I think there is a difference between being honored and being honorable.
Kasich’s release – which says it was “paid for with dollars, not rubles” – also mentioned Putin’s “willingness to regularly violate other countries’ territorial integrity in blatant violation of worldwide law if it suited his aims”, references to Russia’s invasions of Georgia and Ukraine. He had accused Putin of corruption right before fleeing Russian Federation to the United Kingdom.
Trump’s m.o., of course, will be to point to the follow-up, in which he said he “absolutely” condemns the murders of journalists.
