Nnamdi Kanu apologizes to President Buhari
VEXED by the persistent disrespect of different valid orders of the courts of competent jurisdiction directing President Muhammadu Buhari to free unconditionally and immediately Nnamdi Kanu from the detention facility of DSS, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has criticised the President for dragging Nigeria back to the military style tyranny but quickly warned him that his plot to institutionalise totalitarianism would be actively resisted.
President Muhammadu Buhari indicates on national TV Wednesday that the alleged crimes amount to “atrocities”, and the detainees could skip the country.
The Biafra leader’s supposed apology to the President, former President Goodluck Jonathan and Igbo leaders was contained in a statement made available to the Department of State Services on October 23.
Buhari said Dasuki was simply sharing government’s money the way he liked.
Kanu, however, says that he remains unapologetic on his demand for a Republic of Biafra.
Also the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has described as complete false, calculated and systematic attempt by agents of Federal Government to discredit IPOB and MASSOB with the claim that Nnamdi Kanu has apologized for his comments against some Nigerians.
Buhari made the government position known today during his maiden Presidential media chat with a panel of journalists in Abuja.
He said Kanu’s continued detention in disobedience of court orders could be likened to the Biblical Pharoah who refused to allow Israelites leave Egypt and also, the Biblical John the Apostle who could not be killed by enemies, even after they threw him into hot oil.
Justifying his agitation for secession, Kanu further stated that the agenda of IPOB stemmed from the ‘incessant hardship, lack of holistic development in the socio-economic landscape of Nigeria, lack of youth employment, corruption in high offices and economic regression’. On December 18, however, the Nigerian Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke, filed fresh charges against Kanu including treason and maintaining unlawful society on December 18.
