Nawaz Sharif optimist about Pakistan-India ties
He said it is with the resolution of conflicts that the people of both countries can prosper.
Nawaz Sharif said that it was not only his responsibility to get Pakistan out of crisis rather the whole political spectrum would have to play its role in making peaceful and progressive Pakistan.
A special meeting of the advisory council of World Punjabi Congress (WPC) was held with Fakhar Zaman in chair to review the meeting of prime ministers Narendra Modi and Nawaz Sharif in Lahore. Speaking to reporters in Balochistan, Sharif thanked Modi for his visit on his 66th birthday, and said it was “high time the countries put aside their hostilities”, PTI reported.
He was responding to question about the recent visit of the Indian Prime Minister to Lahore and its impact on bilateral ties.
The Pakistan prime minister’s comments came a day after his Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said that foreign secretaries of India and Pakistan will meet in Islamabad on January 14-15 to prepare a schedule of meeting for the comprehensive dialogue covering Jammu and Kashmir and other issues.
Sounding a note of caution against unrealistic expectations from the talks, Aziz said the dialogue process is challenging as it involves hard decisions and important issues.
Sharif, received PM Modi at the airport on 25th December with a hug and then flew him to his home near Lahore, where the two leaders held talks for over an hour.
