Marco Rubio returning to Texas for Dallas rally
The group led by his onetime mentor former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Sen. Marco Rubio Tuesday in an effort to scuff up a leading establishment figure.
“The alphabet soup of federal agencies have descended like locusts on small businesses, killing jobs all across this country”, said Cruz, R-Texas.
Some are already supporting him, while others are undecided, Cruz said. Cruz all continue to attack his voting record in the Senate.
Trey Gowdy, though well respected among conservatives, and was one of the first elected officials to come of the tea party wave, the fact is he is an elected official. The big story of the year has been, of course, Donald Trump’s all rise and no fall campaign. “Frankly, you can’t buy that”.
For the most part, “endorsements are pretty meaningless these days, with the amount of news coverage on television and everything else”, said Steve Schale, a Democratic consultant who ran President Barack Obama’s general election campaign in Florida in 2008. Though Gowdy is a rising star on the right, he isn’t well known outside of SC and Washington, D.C. “But that’s not what you heard in that Manhattan fundraiser and that’s the only thing I’ve pointed out”. “If Marco’s that thin-skinned, he doesn’t belong in this business”, Christie concluded.
Cruz certainly has competition for evangelicals.
Chris Christie this week laid into his 2016 GOP rival Sen.
Rick Santorum on Monday accused his opponent Ted Cruz of not being a social conservative.
Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson speaks outside the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity at Iowa State University during a campaign stop on October 24, 2015, in Ames, Iowa. He’s also seeking backing from at least one pastor in every county.
“God bless the great state of Texas”, Cruz said.
Cruz will be the only candidate appearing at meetings January 25 in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines, the last such gathering before the caucuses a week later. Evangelical voters carry an outsize influence in the Iowa Republican caucus. Rubio? He said at the time that he opposed an amendment that would do that. “They know the path we’re on doesn’t make sense”.
Buchanan said the danger for Gowdy is that tea party voters could negatively paint both him and Rubio in the same bad light as the campaign presses ahead. Rubio is almost 20 points behind Cruz in the state. They include House Speaker Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential nominee in 2012, and Iowa Governor Terry Branstad. “I’m not running against them, I’m running for president”, Rubio said Wednesday on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends”.
