US Representative Trey Gowdy endorses Republican Marco Rubio for president
Marco Rubio’s presidential campaign picked up another congressional endorsement this week, though this one was a little higher profile than most: Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), best known for his chairmanship of the Republicans’ Benghazi committee, threw his support behind the Florida senator.
“I am convinced for me, that I’m going to vote for Marco Rubio in the SC primary”. In fact, Gowdy even traveled to Iowa to campaign on Rubio’s behalf. But, Wynn said, the endorsement may open the door for Gowdy to serve in Rubio’s administration if Rubio is elected. Marco Rubio for the Republican nomination for president.
An aide who requested anonymity told Bloomberg Politics the endorsement will occur in Iowa when Gowdy heads out on a bus tour with Rubio.
Here’s the thing. In this election cycle, Republican voters have been drawn to Donald Trump because he is not a Republican elected official, because he represents the exact opposite of what we consider the Republican establishment. While he did not address it, he took several questions from the crowd including one concerning the Keystone XL pipeline. “I found that hope in a place that – if you’d told me 10 years ago I would find it, I wouldn’t have believed you – in the son of a bartender, in the son of a housekeeper who know what it means to live the American dream”. “But I’m going to vote for Marco Rubio”.
Politico reported Gowdy also appeared at a campaign event with Rubio on Tuesday.
” I have done my vetting, I have reached my conclusion”, Gowdy said.
