Manchester United Fans Best I’ve Ever Seen Says Louis van Gaal
Offering a warning to the club management, Moyes believes that Manchester United should be wary of acquiring a reputation for changing managers in quick succession.
FC’s Shaka Hislop agrees with David Moyes’ assertion that Man United should not sack Louis van Gaal.
The former United manager offered support to his successor as he claimed that Van Gaal deserves more time to succeed at the club.
United were top of the table last month, but have slipped to sixth in the standings after a poor sequence of six league games without a win. We have to get points otherwise the gap is too big and that is why we have to do what we have to do.
The Dutchman took charge of United in 2014 and his first Barclays Premier League fixture was against Swansea in August – a shock 2-1 defeat for the Reds.
“But then we went out of the Champions League and that gave us a big blow”.
United are out of the Champions League and in the middle of their worst run for 26 seasons, but the United manager thinks it would be wrong to judge the year based on their displays in December.
Van Gaal has won league titles as manager of Ajax, AZ Alkmaar, Barcelona and Bayern Munich and holds out hope of a repeat with United, despite their recent slump.
Some supporters have accused United’s players of failing to “play” for Van Gaal, by not showing the endeavour required to lift the club out of its current malaise. “There a very few managers in the world that wouldn’t want to manage Manchester United”. “The way we played, under that pressure and in the style we want to play, was fantastic”.
However, there was greater encouragement two days later, even though a 0-0 draw at home to Chelsea extended United’s run without a victory to eight matches in all competitions ahead of Saturday’s visit of Swansea City.
“We’ve done exceptionally well against them in the last three games, but we know it will be a tough game and we’ll have to be at our best again”, he said. I say we have more shots at goal in the first 45 minutes, but we are playing, certainly at home, many matches like that.
Asked why the Welsh club have proved so hard for them to beat, Van Gaal said: “I have three times lost against Swansea and you have to evaluate why you lost”.
“When I was on the bench I thought it was not on objective but when you see on the video, you see the hand is going to the ball and not the ball is going to the hand and then you can only say we are unlucky”. “It’s looking to what has happened and what you can improve as a team but also as an individual player”.
