Expect to see more police on roads New Year’s Eve
North Wales Police are encouraging revellers to have an enjoyable but safe New Year’s Eve as officers prepare for one of the busiest times of the year.
Irvine will have extra DUI patrols, said Irvine police spokeswoman Farrah Emami.
If you don’t have a designated driver this year, you have many alternatives to get home.
Police have been stepping up patrols over the entire holiday season.
Several local police departments have been awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants this year from the California Office of Traffic Safety for yearlong programs aimed at preventing traffic-related deaths and injuries.
“Most people seem to get the idea”, Washington County Sheriff Jeff Murphy said. There have also been five fatal accidents.
“There’s going to be a lot of roving patrols”, said Weerden.
“We know we’re going to have extra calls for service, so we staff accordingly”, said Lt. Catherine Buckley. That’s going to be out there.
Police won’t just be looking for drunk drivers.
Buckley said police will focus on downtown while being ready for trouble that arises in other areas of the city.
We hope everyone out celebrating the New Year will have fun, but will behave sensibly and not spoil the festivities for themselves and others. If you think you see an intoxicated driver, you can report it by calling *HP. Uber rates increase, known as price surging, when demand exceeds the number of drivers on the road.
