Obama will travel to technology show in Germany
President Barack Obama had announced in Malaysia last month that the USA would be the host for leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
The United States has taken no sides in the territorial dispute itself but has protested the unilateral actions by China.
Since the start of Plan Colombia, both Republican and Democrat administrations have provided more than $10 billion in aid to Colombia, much of it to combat cocaine trafficking that for decades has fueled political violence.
The group said at the time that Obama had his “wish list of gun control”, in California but “it didn’t prevent the San Bernardino attack”.
Obama’s focus will be on “gun show loopholes” that allow purchasing guns without background checks in certain situations, including at certain aforementioned gun shows. In fact, the expected proposal is similar to one Obama put forward after the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newton, Connecticut that killed 26 people – mostly children.
The changes, which could come as soon as next week, would include requiring more small-scale gun sellers to be licensed and to conduct a background check whenever selling a weapon, Politico reported. But others who only make occasional sales or are selling firearms from a personal collection are exempted from the background check requirement.

The measure is also expected to provide funding for local law enforcement to enforce existing gun laws.
