TCU Wide Receiver also Suspended

In a released statement, TCU senior QB Trevone Boykin apologized for the Thursday morning bar fight that ended in his arrest.

Edwards, who is in Orlando, Fla., for Saturday’s Under Armour All-America Game, used TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin’s current situation as an important lesson for some of the top high school recruits in the nation.

Boykin is in San Antonio for the Alamo Bowl Game Saturday against the Oregon Ducks.

TCU also suspended junior wide receiver Preston Miller for the Alamo Bowl, but Miller’s infraction was not announced. San Antonio Police and TCU administration are investigating the events, but after a season that began with so much promise for both the Horned Frogs and Boykin, this morning cemented the 2015 season as one to forget for TCU. They say an upset Boykin allegedly took a swing, missed, and made contact with a bar employee instead.

Senior Bram Kohlhausen or redshirt freshman Foster Sawyer will start in Boykin’s place. A TCU spokesperson confirmed Boykin was sent home following his arrest and suspension. It was then that Boykin complied with demands to stop resisting, McManus said.

After walking away, the suspect, whom police were told by bystanders was Boykin, charged officers. Boykin was then taken to the ground by multiple members of the SAPD and was threatened with a taser gun before being placed under arrest.

Several of Boykin’s teammates attempt to take Boykin back to the hotel, but he apparently returned and threw a punch, striking one of the officers, McManus said. After leaving the bar, the fight continued out on the street as bouncers and San Antonio bicycle police attempted to break it up.

The recent issues could call into the question the entire idea of allowing teams to stay downtown.

“It wasn’t strong as a quarterback anyway”, Kiper said on ESPN radio Thursday morning.

This is the second incident involving arrests for TCU players this season. He had 3,574 yards passing and 31 touchdowns.
