DDCA row: Jaitley will come out clean, says Modi
Kejriwal told the Delhi assembly that the CBI raided his office – the CBI denies this happened – because he claimed it was looking for a file on the DDCA severely critical of Jaitley.
I demand PM Modi’s resignation for the fraudulent raid that he got carried out just to save Arun Jaitley.
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday filed civil and criminal defamation cases against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and some AAP leaders for making charges of alleged financial irregularities in Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) during his 14-year-old tenure as its chief.
While Kejriwal and Vishwas were not present in the high court, four of the AAP leaders – Ashutosh, Sanjay, Raghav and Deepak, attended the proceedings.
The Delhi High Court said it would hear on Tuesday the defamation suit slapped against Kejriwal, who took on Jaitley from the day the CBI raided his principal secretary Rajendra Kumar for alleged corruption. In a strong show of support for Jaitley, Modi said at BJP parliamentary party meet that he will come through “with flying colours” against charges of corruption levelled against him by the opposition in a same way Advani did in the Hawala case.
He also demanded that a court monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe the alleged irregularities in DDCA.
Kirti Azad sent out a tweet which says that he has received warnings of a threat on his life.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said it was investigating a top bureaucrat in Kejriwal’s office for corruption.
To substantiate the ground of hobnobbing with opposition, several other BJP leaders also claimed and stressed that Kirti Azad had embarrassed the party in Lok Sabha on Monday at the nudge of opposition leader Sonia Gandhi by countering Arun Jaitley’s clarification over DDCA controversy on the floor of the House.
After figuring in the hawala case, Mr Advani had quit his Lok Sabha membership and again contested election following a clean chit from the court, he said.
The fracas over Jaitley started last week after CBI raided Kejriwal’s office while investigating one of the top bureaucrats in the Delhi government. We have left our jobs to join this party, we are here to fight againt corruption.
“Jethmalani said he is confident he will corner Jaitley as we have all the documents to back our allegations”, said Bajpai, who is also the media in-charge.
The official said Kejriwal will seek day-to-day hearing in the case.
